May 2008

  • The Ladies Auxiliary and the Men's Auxiliary will have a Rummage Sale on May 2nd and 3rd from  9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.   Rain date is May 9th & 10th.  Hot dogs will be sold and breakfast on Saturday Morning.  Amber Mobley will do face painting for the children.

    We will be seeking donations for the Post Poppy Queen, Natalie Watson, who is running for State VFW Poppy Queen.  If you would like to donate to our rummage sale, call Shirley Lewis at 562-3202.  Watch for other events coming up.  May 1st is “LOYALTY DAY.”   Memorial Day we are planning a special program for the War Memorial in Winfield.  This will be the 20th Anniversary of the War Memorial.

April 2008

  • The Ladies Auxiliary to VFW POST 9097 HURRICANE, WV held their elections on April 1, 2008 for the coming year.  The following persons were elected.

  • VFW POST 9097 will be hosting the District 8 VFW meeting on April 20th, Dinner will be served at 1:00 p.m. with meetings following.   The state representatives are VFW State Commander Bob Caruthers and State Ladies Auxiliary President Rowena Davis.

    The following posts are in District 8:   1064 Huntington, 8429 Ceredo, 9097 Hurricane, 9738 East Huntington, 9796 Milton AND 9926 Mason.  We hope to have a great turnout.  There will be a flag burning ceremony after the dinner and before the meetings.  This is a special ceremony to retire old American flags and is truly a tribute to see.

 

February 2008

  • THE MEN’S AUXILIARY OF POST 9097 AND LADIES AUXILIARY WILL SPONSOR AN EASTER EGG HUNT MARCH THE 16 THE AT THE

    POST HOME ON TEAYS VALLEY ROAD, HURRICANE.  FOR CHILDREN AGED 1 TO 12 YEARS OLD, FROM  2:00 PM TO 4:00 PM.

    THE CHILDREN WILL BE DIVIDED INTO AGE GROUPS. 1 TO 3 YEARS, 4 TO 9 YEARS AND 10 TO 12 YEARS OLD.

    EACH AGE GROUP WILL HAVE GRAND PRIZE OF A NICE EASTER BASKET AND THERE WILL BE ADDITIONAL PRIZE EGGS

    REFRESHMENTS OF HOT DOGS, CHIPS AND KOOL-AID WILL BE SERVED BEFORE THE EGG HUNT.

    THE LADIES AUXILIARY OF VFW POST 9097 WILL SPONSOR A RUMMAGE SALE ON MAY 2nd AND 3rd AT THE POST HOME.

    RAIN DATE WILL BE MAY 9th AND 10th. TIME 9:00 AM TILL 4:00 PM HOT DOGS WILL BE SOLD AND AMBER MOBLEY, LADIES

    AUXILIARY MEMBER WILL DO FACE PAINTING FOR THE CHILDREN.  BREAKFAST WILL BE SERVED ON SATURDAY MORNING.

    LOTS OF GOOD ITEMS TO BE SOLD AND LOTS OF HOME  INTERIOR.  I F YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE ITEMS TO THE LADIES

  • February 9 -  Members of the Ladies Auxiliary have been busy working at the post cleaning up after post members and auxiliary members worked for over two weeks to completely remodel the Canteen.  Click here for pictures.

 

MARCH

  • March 26-27 -National President Linda Meader of Concord, New Hampshire (photo at right) will make an official visit to Grafton, WV on March 26 & 27.       She will be welcomed to West Virginia at the Tygart Lake Lodge on March 26th.   She will be brought through the isle of honor of flags to show her a warm WV welcome.

 

APRIL

 

  • April 4-6 - Ladies Auxiliary Mid-Year Conference Palm Springs, CA

 

  • April 14 - West Virginia Department VFW Ladies Auxiliary President Rosemary Knight's Testimonial will be held at VFW Post 3081, Grafton, WV on April 14, 2007.  Social hour is at 6:00 p.m. and the Banquet is at 6:30 p.m. Registration is $15.000/At the Door, the cost for registration is$20.00.
  • April 22 - District 8 Meeting will be held April 22nd at VFW Post 9738.  Election of District Offiers will also be held during this meeting.
 FYI of Note 
  • 9097 LADIES AUXILIARY HAS VOTED TO HAVE ONLY (ONE ) MEETING A MONTH. THE ELECTION OF OFFICERS WILL BE APRIL 3,2007. MEETINGS START AT 7:30 P.M.
