VFW Post # 9097 Members, Ladies Auxiliary and Men's Auxiliary Assist Families of WV Army National Guard 111th Engineers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  - June 8, 2007

 

On Thursday and Friday, June 7 & 8, VFW and Auxiliary members took part in an effort to provide meals for families of the 111th Engineer Brigade of the West Virginia Army National Guard.  the 111th will be deployed on June 9 to assist in Operation Iraqi Freedom.  The 111th Engineer Brigade is housed at Red House, in the Eleanor National Guard facility.  The Family Readiness Group (FRG) of the 111th requested assistance from several groups and VFW Post 9097 responded to the call.  The FRG is composed of the families of the unit.  The first stop for the 111th  will be a post mobilization stay at Ft. McCoy, Wisconsin.  According to Noble Wayne Lanham, Family Assistance Group volunteer, he is "proud to see VFW Post #9097 helping our soldiers."

In the photo above, soldiers and family members prepare to enjoy breakfast courtesy of VFW Post # 9097 on Friday morning at the National Guard Armory in Eleanor.

In the next photo, Post #9097 members, Ladies Auxiliary and Men's Auxiliary turned out in full force to assist and to visit with members of the 111th Engineering Brigade.

Providing a helping hand was Bill Lambert (Quartermaster, and incoming Post Commander), Marcia Wiley (President, Ladies Auxiliary) Ledith Salmons, Ina Bogges, Sandra Gray, Kathy Reinck, Grace Matz, Roger Madden, Gary Walton, Richard Clark, Roger Coffee, Everett Lewis, and Brian Krebs.
