Lambert Named 2008 Director of VFW Youth Camp

9097 Post Commander Bill Lambert was recently named 2008 Director of the VFW Youth Camp.  The camp is the only VFW-operated youth camp in operation in West Virginia and has been in continuous operation by VFW and Ladies Auxiliary members since 1960.  In the photo below, Commander Bill Lambert (right) holds the board for a martial arts demonstration during this year's youth camp.

The camp is held at Cedar Lakes Conference Center near Ripley, Jackson County, West Virginia.  The camp features a variety of activities for boys and girls, ages 11,12, and 13 including:  volleyball, softball, archery, rock wall climbing, crafts, swimming, and campfires.  Click here for a .pdf version of the 2008 VFW Youth Camp Brochure.

The 2008 VFW Youth Camp will be held July 13-19, 2008 at Cedar Lakes.  Campers are sponsored by any VFW Post of Auxiliary, organizations, businesses and individuals.  Camp Director Lambert recently started sending out formal requests for donations to support the 2008 camp.  The funds will be used to buy new archery targets, archery equipment, first aid supplies and other needed supplies.
