VFW Post #9097 Holds First-Ever Cruzin Cooler Race during Labor Day Cookout

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  - Sunday, September 2, 2007

On Sunday afternoon, September 2nd, VFW Mountaineer Post # 9097 in Hurricane held their annual Labor Day Cookout.  Besides the excellent food, the highlight of the day's event was the First-Ever Cruzin Cooler Race.  In the first photo, (below)  The Course Director (BJ) gives instructions to the riders (Gary Walton on blue cooler, and Post Jr. Vice Commander Ed Jividen on the black cooler)

In the second photo,   The race begins (The intimidator, Ed Jividen) tried to break away from the pack (of two) in an effort to claim the early lead.    By the first turn of the first lap, Jividen had already claimed the lead (primarily because someone - unknown, of course to Ed - had let most of the air out of Walton's front tire substantially modifying the outcome of the race.

By the end of the first lap, Walton was coming in a distant second.

Children of VFW Member Gary Lewis enjoy some time on the Cruzin Coolers after the main event race.  and the food was excellent and there was enough to surely feed an army.  One of the largest crowds in memory turned out the enjoy the Sunday afternoon at Hurricane's VFW Post #9097.
