Community Service Project - Post #9097 Members Build New Deck for John Cruikshank

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  -  September 21, 2007

Bright and early last Sunday morning, VFW Post members and social members came together at the residence of VFW Post #9097 Life Member John Cruikshank to build a new 8' X 8' deck with steps and rails.   On hand for the construction project was:  Denver Sowards, Jim Totten, Danny Watson, Post Commander Bill Lambert, and Brad Holley.  (photos courtesy of Bill Lambert)

In the photo at left, Denver Sowards finishes nailing in the floor joist hangars as John Cruikshank watches trhough the front door.

In the photo at left (left to right:  Danny Watson, Jim Totten and Denver Sowards) the construction crew begins measuring the floor boards in preparation to begin assembly of the deck.

In the photo above, members of the Post # 9097 crew (left to right - Post Commander Bill Lambert, Denver Sowards, John Cruikshank, Danny Watson and Jim Totten) pose for a photo as they near completion of the new 8' X 8' deck with steps and rails .

The group worked from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. to complete the project.  The materials were purchased by Mr. Cruikshank.

John is really proud of his new deck and sends a big thank you all who helped in the construction project.
