VFW Post # 9097 Salutes Veterans During Memorial Day Ceremonies

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  - May 29, 2007

 

VFW Mountaineer Post # 9097 members participated in the annual salute to veterans during the annual Memorial Day celebration at the Putnam County War Memorial in Winfield.  The ceremonies began at 12:00 Noon and featured speakers including Hurricane Mayor Rayond Peak and Winfield Mayor Jake Hunt spoke during the event.  The first photo, below, shows members of the Post 9097 Honor Guard at parade rest during the event.  In the second photo, former State Commander and Post 9097 current Sr. Vice Commander Don Kinnard acted as master of ceremonies for the event.    In the last photo, member Ed Jividen leads the Color Guard with Old Glory as the Color Guard bring the audience to attention in respect for the colors on Memorial Day, May 28, 2007.  After the ceremonies, the Post hosted an outdoor cookout at 2pm in the shelterhouse on Post property with featured guests from the VFW Home in Barboursville.
